Contour Design is a market leader in the research, development, and design of ergonomic computer mice.

Contour Product Development

In 1995, Contour Design Inc. was founded by Steve Wang. The headquarters were established in Windham, New Hampshire (USA), where product development still takes place and the North American market is served. The Perfit Mouse is developed. Two years later, the Perfit Mouse is named "best ergonomic product" by over 3000 ergonomists worldwide.

Later, Contour Design launches the RollerMouse. This is a revolutionary ergonomic computer mouse placed between the keyboard and the user. The rollerbar and optical sensor together ensure accuracy. In addition to the RollerMouse, the Multimedia Controller Pro is also introduced to the market. It is a tool primarily used for editing audio, video, and images. It gives you the ability to use pre-programmed hotkeys, such as cut and paste, at the touch of a button.

Meanwhile, the RollerMouse is further developed, and the RollerMouse Pro and RollerMouse Free are launched. These offer more possibilities and better meet user needs. More than 500,000 units of the original RollerMouse have now been sold.

In 2015, Contour Design introduces an armrest for the first time. This is specially designed as part of the arm and wrist rest for the RollerMouse Red, which won the prestigious Red Dot Award in 2013.

Some time later, Contour Design develops an adjustable mouse; the UniMouse. Because it has a continuously adjustable tilt angle from 35 degrees to 70 degrees, it can be made suitable for everyone. Additionally, the thumb rest is adjustable. This way, you can easily get used to an ergonomic mouse if you are accustomed to a traditional mouse; gradually moving from a horizontal to a vertical mouse. A year later, the UniMouse also wins the Red Dot Award.

What does Contour do for your body?

Contour primarily focuses on centrally positioning the computer mouse. With the help of a centrally placed pointing device, you can move your cursor across the entire screen with the smallest movements. The RollerMouse is specially designed for anyone who spends hours at the computer daily.

Because a central mouse is positioned in front of you instead of next to your keyboard, you need to make smaller movements. This can reduce tension in the neck, shoulders, elbows, and wrists. This way, you can work without complaints and concentrate better.

What you think of Contour Design products

We have had Contour Design products in our webshop for quite some time. The UniMouse, in particular, sells almost daily. The reviews written about it are therefore glowing. Carla indicates that after years of struggling, she finally switched to this ergonomic mouse; "I should have done it years ago because of RSI and shoulder problems." Astrid is also very satisfied with its use, saying "It feels good in the hand, easily adaptable to personal needs." Good to hear! Unfortunately, Lucian is less positive about the UniMouse. He states that the mouse is not suitable for gaming; "If you are used to high-quality gaming mice, the buttons on this mouse are very stiff."

The RollerMouse Red is considerably more expensive than the UniMouse, which is why it is sold less frequently. Nevertheless, the reviews are no less positive. It receives an average rating of 4.9 out of 5.0.

Marjo had to get used to it, but is now satisfied, saying: "It really helps with the pain in my shoulder... it costs a bit but it was worth it."

Leontien can return to work after a long illness. "I am still recovering, but since using the RollerMouse, I can work again without pain." At the time of writing (April '22), no critical reviews of the RollerMouse Red can be found on our website.
