An ode to the K8 Pro
A true rock star
The Keychron K8 Pro is like a rock star among keyboards. Every keystroke is a powerful note, and when you type, you feel like you're giving a keyboard concert. Rock on, typing hero!
Why the K8 Pro?
Almost complete
The Keychron K8 Pro has an 80% ANSI layout, which means the numeric keypad on the right side is missing (tenkeyless). With 87 keys, the K8 Pro is a more compact model. The 12 multimedia keys are located at the top of the keyboard, allowing you to quickly perform certain functions.
Renewed typing experience
The K8 Pro has been redesigned and re-engineered from the inside out (compared to the K8) to improve the typing experience. The added sound-absorbing foam layer, a thick silicone dampening bottom, and a steel plate provide responsive feedback and a quiet sound while typing, while the extra weight increases stability.
Keychron K Pro mechanical switches
The Keychron K8 Pro features pre-lubed Gateron G Pro mechanical switches, which are the mechanisms located under the keycaps. The K8 Pro is available with red or brown switches.
Red switches are linear, meaning you can press them straight down without any tactile bump or feedback. Red switches are ideal for office work or gamers. Brown switches are tactile and provide a slight resistance at the actuation point. The advantage of this is that you get feedback when a keystroke is registered. This makes brown switches suitable for people who type a lot.
When choosing a switch, there is no right or wrong; it's purely a matter of personal preference. For example, gamers can also use brown switches, and typists can use red switches. You can read more about mechanical switches here.
Hot swappable
The Keychron K8 Pro keyboard is hot-swappable, which means you have more freedom in replacing switches. You can easily remove them from the keyboard with the included switch puller. This way, you can easily place other switches in your K8 Pro. With a non-hot-swappable keyboard, the switches are soldered in place, making it more difficult to replace them.
PBT keycaps and shiny backlight
The K8 Pro's switches are topped with a nice set of double-shot PBT keycaps. These feature a double layer of sturdy plastic, so the legend is embedded within the keycap, rather than printed on top. This makes them more resistant to wear. Additionally, PBT plastic is less susceptible to grease stains like fingerprints. The keycaps have an OSA profile (OEM with spherical corner).
Cool RGB backlight emanates from beneath the keycaps. You can adjust its brightness to your liking. Furthermore, the backlight is south-facing, meaning it's directed towards the user. This allows the lighting to be displayed to its best advantage. For the lighting pattern, you can choose from 22(!) different variants.

What makes the K8 Pro so good?
Powerful battery and wireless freedom
The K8 Pro has an impressive 4000mAh rechargeable battery. That equates to 290 hours of usage without backlight or 150 hours with backlight at the lowest brightness. The keyboard can be connected to multiple different devices using Bluetooth 5.1. With a single press of a button, you can easily switch between your desktop computer, laptop, and/or tablet. Of course, the K8 Pro can also be used wired with the included cable.
Sturdy stabilisers
Stabilisers are mechanisms designed to stabilise and guide the movement of keys. They help keys move evenly and prevent them from wobbling or tilting when pressed. Stabilisers are located under larger keys such as the Enter key, Shift key, spacebar, and Backspace key. The K8 Pro's stabilisers are screwed onto the PCB, giving you more freedom in customising the keyboard.
Get the most out of your K8 Pro
QMK/VIA programmable
The Keychron K8 Pro can be programmed using QMK/VIA software. With this software, you can assign any function you want to each key, such as combination keys and macros. By compressing a number of actions into a single button press, you will be able to work faster. You can read all about this software in the blog written by Keychron.
Don't miss this either
For Windows, Mac and Linux
The Keychron K8 Pro can be used on Windows and Mac. At the top of the keyboard, there is a switch that allows you to easily change operating systems. Additionally, extra keycaps are included to replace keys such as command and option. The keyboard can also be used on Linux, but no extras are included for this.
Matching wrist rest
At the bottom of the keyboard are foldable feet that allow you to adjust the keyboard's angle (3.5º, 7.5º and 10.5º). However, we advise against using these, as they can actually cause wrist discomfort. We do recommend using a matching wrist rest where your wrists can rest comfortably.
Physical characteristics & NKRO
The dimensions of the K8 Pro are 359 x 127 x 42 mm. The keyboard frame is made of very sturdy aluminium, which can withstand a knock. Finally, the K8 Pro features N-Key Rollover (NKRO), for both wireless and wired use. The keyboard has the capacity to correctly handle multiple simultaneous keystrokes. This means it can accurately detect when multiple keys are pressed at the same time, regardless of the number of other keys also being pressed at that moment.
