Normally we use this bit of text to write something fun and light-hearted about a product. But this time I want to use it to make sure you start reading with a cup of coffee or tea to hand, because there is quite a lot to tell about the K8. Sitting comfortably? Why the Keychron K8 keyboard?

Very complete

Nicely retro: that is the K8 non-backlight. The K8 gives you all the keys and functions you need in a compact 80% format. This means there is no numeric section, for ergonomic reasons, but it does have shortcuts that can be used by pressing key combinations. This layout is in high demand for maximum productivity and is the favourite format for gamers.

The connectivity of the K8 is fantastic. Via Bluetooth you can connect up to three devices to the keyboard wirelessly at the same time. Using the toggle button you switch between your connected devices in a flash. So one moment you are working on your laptop, and the next you quickly type a WhatsApp message about dinner, for example. A fourth device can be connected with a cable (USB). Connecting a single device and using the USB cable for it is of course also possible.

Matching K8 wrist rest

Keychron has designed two wrist rests especially for the K8. One is made of American walnut wood. The other combines this same wood with resin for a distinctive look. The wrist rests also have 4 anti-slip points that keep them in place.

Thanks to the support, your wrists and hands are at the right height to use the keyboard. This optimises relaxation and can help prevent injuries. Matching Penclic H2 wrist rest

The gel-filled wrist rest from Penlic also fits the Keychron K8 keyboard perfectly. The exterior is finished with a wonderfully soft and comfortable Lycra fabric. The underside has an anti-slip layer, so the rest always stays in place. Thanks to the support, your wrists and hands are at the right height to use your keyboard. Carrying case

The Keychron carrying case is the optimal way to take your Keychron keyboard with you. The case is opened and closed with a zip and inside consists of a compartment for the keyboard and a compartment for the cable. The case is made of plastic and canvas, which gives a combination of durable, sturdy, very light and stylish. The rubber handle makes carrying easy. Aluminium or plastic frame

With this model of the Keychron keyboard you have the choice between an aluminium or a plastic (ABS) frame. The plastic frame is a little lighter; 740 grams compared with the aluminium model at 887 grams. Personally we find the keyboard with the aluminium frame feels a bit more solid than the keyboard with the plastic frame. That does not mean the plastic frame cannot take a knock, though; in that respect it matches the aluminium variant. You could also take the price difference into account in your choice, with the plastic variant being slightly cheaper.

What makes an ergonomic keyboard so good?

Anyone who does a lot of work on the computer knows that this can put a strain on your wrists, shoulders, back and neck. A good keyboard can help you with this. The Keychron K8, for example, has a compact design. The keys are also extra easy to press. And you can place your mouse right next to the keyboard. All of this is intended to minimise strain on muscles, which can help prevent or reduce injuries.

Please note: read the instructions on this page carefully, because downloading the wrong firmware can be fatal for the keyboard.

You should not miss this either

The Keychron K8 has a strong 4000mAh battery that lasts up to 570 hours with normal use. Because the K8 non-backlight has no lighting, it lasts up to 500 hours longer than its RGB counterpart.

The K8 can easily be raised a little higher by folding out two feet at the back. But for ergonomic reasons we advise against this. The Keychron K8 is suitable for both Windows & Mac. With a slider switch on the side you can easily switch between the operating systems. System-related keys are supplied and you can easily swap them yourself.
