Evoluent

Evoluent focuses (almost) entirely on the development of ergonomic mice. Their vertical design helps to reduce or prevent discomfort in the hand, wrist and forearm. By continuously refining its designs – for example, using plaster models that are constantly being tweaked – Evoluent remains one of the frontrunners in the field of ergonomic mice.

"I’ve been using this mouse for 10 years and recently bought two more, one for each workstation. I couldn’t do without them now." – Kristin V on her Verticalmouse 4
Evoluent product development
Due to discomfort when using a computer mouse, Jack Lo began sketching an ergonomic mouse in 1994. This was the world’s first mouse with a fully upright position. Jack tried to convince various mouse companies, but was repeatedly turned down. Jack and his new business partner Ping stuck to their idea and exhibited a prototype at Comdex 2001 in Las Vegas. Jack was encouraged by the public to start producing and distributing his mouse himself. He put all his savings into the project and did everything himself, from the industrial design to creating the packaging, the website, brochures and advertisements. Eventually, he travels to Asia and finds a manufacturer willing to produce his mouse.
After many months of collaboration, the first Evoluent VerticalMouse rolled off the production line at the end of 2002. Following the launch of this mouse, Jack set to work on PR, sales and technical support. Meanwhile, Ping took charge of orders and was responsible for shipping. Reviews of the ergonomic mice were glowing, but unfortunately sales grew only slowly due to a lack of distribution. The units stored in Jack’s home seemed to mark the start of an unstoppable wave of orders. In 2004, the VerticalMouse 2 was designed and launched. Compared to the previous model, this version featured improved button response, pointer response, styling, fit and finish.
Meanwhile, Jack continues to keep customers satisfied, ensuring they have a pleasant experience using their ergonomic mouse. He helps resolve production issues and manually inspects every mouse manufactured in the factory.

Do your wrist a favour
The hallmark of Evoluent mice is their fully upright design. When you use an Evoluent mouse, your wrist is positioned in a natural posture. This prevents discomfort in the wrist and forearm. In addition, the mice feature extra (programmable) buttons, allowing you to combine multiple actions into a single action. This not only speeds up your workflow but also reduces the number of mouse movements required.
Customer reviews
Just like us, hundreds of people are satisfied with their Evoluent mice. This is evident from the many product reviews, including that of Maarten J. He has this to say about his Evoluent VerticalMouse 4: “It takes just two minutes to get used to using this mouse. After that, you’ll never want another one and you’ll wonder why so many ‘flat’ mice are still being used. I bought this to replace an Apple mouse which is fine in terms of design, but a disaster ergonomically. Connecting it to the computer is very easy. Plugging the mouse in and switching it on takes no more than 5 seconds, and then you’re ready to get started.”
Ernst M has also opted for the Evoluent VerticalMouse 4 and couldn’t be happier: “I’ve bought and used standard mice, trackpads, Wacom tablets, thumb mice and styluses. No mouse comes close to the comfort this one offers. The quality is good and the position your arm and hand adopt is natural and easy to maintain for 8 hours or more a day. I do switch between this and a trackpad, but for design work and speed, this is an absolute winner. I also work at a white desk. I haven’t had any problems with white surfaces. If this one breaks, I’ll get a new one :)"
