Why the Evoluent VerticalMouse 4 Bluetooth?

The popular Evoluent 4 is now complete with the arrival of Bluetooth. It is one of the better ergonomic mice and works excellently against RSI complaints. The mouse can be wirelessly connected without a cable or receiver to any device that has Bluetooth. It is ideal for Apple products, such as the MacBook.

What makes an ergonomic mouse so good

The mouse is tilted, forcing the arm into a more natural position. Hand, wrist, arm, and shoulder relax more, which significantly reduces the chance of complaints.

Too often, people still work with the wrong mouse. It can therefore often be identified as the culprit for complaints. The traditional mouse is flat and too small. The hand does not rest comfortably on it and often has to 'grip' the mouse, which puts unnecessary strain on the muscles. The hand has to be twisted far inwards to rest properly on the mouse.

Get the most out of it

Evoluent has developed several clever features for the VerticalMouse 4. For example, the thumb rests comfortably in the special indentation on top of the mouse. To the left and right of this indentation are 2 buttons that, with the help of the special driver (for Mac only), can be assigned any possible function, such as forward/backward. The 'lip' near the little finger prevents the little finger from dragging across the desk, a common irritation with normal mice.

Furthermore, Evoluent has equipped its mouse with a special button that allows the cursor sensitivity to be adjusted. An LED indicator shows which level it is set to. There are 4 levels: extra low (XL), low (LO), medium (MD), high (HI).

The Evoluent comes standard with 1 AA battery. The mouse can be used for about 3-5 months on this battery. The battery is not rechargeable, so make sure you have a replacement at home.

A great helper tool from Evoluent is the Evoluent Mouse Manager. With this programme, you can easily adjust the button functions to your own preferences. You can download this driver under the 'downloads' section. Unfortunately, the driver does not work on Windows; XMouse Button Control is the best alternative.
