Suddenly it becomes apparent how stiffly straight keys on keyboards are. Functional, certainly, but also boring. And then Keychron comes along with a Retro look that adds much more “funk” to your board. As if you're putting on your roller skates and ready for a night at the disco.

Why the K4 PBT Retro Mac Keycaps?

The Retro Mac Keycaps for the K4 give your keyboard a cool look. All keys, including the arrows, are printed in italic (slanted) instead of straight. Most keycaps are white, the rest are grey, and the orange Escape key is replaced by a red key. Furthermore, the arrows on the Backspace and Enter keys are replaced by “think different” and “one more thing…”.

The set includes two Escape keys. Although both are red, one comes with the text “hello.” and the other with an image of an old Mac computer. Please note: the keycaps are only suitable for the Keychron K4 keyboard.

What makes keycaps so good?

The only contact you have with the keyboard is with the keycaps. And almost the only thing you see on the keyboard are the keycaps. This allows you to easily customise your keyboard by swapping out the keycaps.

The keys are made of PBT. PBT is a plastic with many advantages. For example, this material has high strength and stiffness and very good wear resistance. In addition, its high resistance to thermal deformation and chemical resistance ensures that the keys last a long time. The very low moisture absorption also benefits their lifespan.

PBT is therefore an excellent material that is also stain-resistant. If you want to thoroughly clean the keyboard, it's best to remove the keys. This way, you not only clean the keys more easily but also clean the keyboard underneath the keys.
