An ode to the Mistel Barocco MD770 RGB

So happy with arrow keys

Arrow keys, those wonderfully fine arrow keys. We already discussed it with the MD600, we bothered Mistel about it, and finally, we got them. Bottom right, exactly where you want them. What a delight.

Why the Mistel Barocco MD770?

Mechanical typing is simply better

The MD770 is a mechanical keyboard with Cherry MX Brown switches. A mechanical keyboard registers a keystroke even before you fully press the key. This means your fingers need to exert less force, making typing more comfortable during long working days.

Compact 75% keyboard

This 75% layout from Mistel was long-awaited. After the popular 60% model (MD600), there was a great demand for arrow keys. With a width of 334.5 mm, the MD770 remains compact, but much more suitable for office work.

Split design for a relaxed posture

The board consists of two separate parts that you can position freely. The 38 cm coiled cable is extendable to over 60 cm. This allows you to position the parts precisely so that your hands are better aligned with your forearms. This immediately relaxes your shoulders, arms, and wrists.

You can even place a notepad or separate numpad between them.

RGB lighting

The RGB version of the MD770 has ten pre-programmed lighting modes. 'Reactive' is a fun mode: the light follows the last key you pressed. You can adjust the brightness and speed, or turn off the lighting completely.

Double shot keycaps

The keycaps consist of two layers of plastic moulded together. This prevents the lettering from wearing off, as it is not a print but part of the keycap itself.

Get the most out of your MD770

Small and large adjustments

On the bottom are four dip switches that allow you to customise the keyboard:

1. Windows → Mac-layout
2. Caps Lock ↔ left CTRL
3. Left Windows ↔ left ALT
4. Caps Lock ↔ FN

Additionally, you can switch between QWERTY, Colemak, and Dvorak without software. In the three extra layers, you can move functions or set up macros. For example, an Office layer with cut and paste under the number row. The settings are saved in the internal memory.

Also not to be missed

Suitable for Mac

With dip switch 1, you can change the layout to Mac. A pity though: no Mac keycaps are included.

Better for your body

The separate parts allow you to keep your shoulders, arms, and wrists much straighter than with a standard keyboard.

Space for accessories

You can easily place a tablet holder, notepad, or separate numpad between the two halves.
