An ode to the PCM02 cooling vest

We think so. A cooling vest is not only cool (temperature-wise), it's also cool (stylish). And if you're cool, you just feel better. You're more energetic, fitter, more productive, and more sociable. And probably a bit cooler because of it. Lovely.

Why the PCM02 cooling vest

For the hard workers

You don't wear the PCM02 cooling vest just for fun. This vest is ideal for quite extreme conditions. Think of temperatures above 40 degrees Celsius or humidity above 90%. For example, the PCM02 is widely worn in the steel industry.

Well-thought-out cooling vest with cooling elements

Unlike many other vests, the PCM02 does not have integrated cooling pads. The professional cooling vest has 4 pockets on the front and back, allowing a total of 8 cooling pads to be inserted. These pads come in 150 grams (2 hours of cooling) and 250 grams (4 hours of cooling). Although they fit perfectly into the pockets, they are easy to insert and remove. The pockets are on the inside of the vest.

You cool the pads themselves in the fridge or freezer. If a cooling pad is depleted, you can quickly swap your pads and continue working comfortably while the vest keeps your body cool.

The cooling vest comes in 4 different sizes (see size chart when selecting size or below) and is also adjustable thanks to the sturdy Velcro on the sides of the vest. This ensures you can wear the vest snugly and make optimal use of its cooling properties.

Choose the right cooling element

The cooling elements are available in different temperatures. You can choose from 12, 18, 24, and 30 degrees Celsius. Generally, it is advised to choose an element that is at least about 15 degrees Celsius below the working temperature. Working in 40 degrees Celsius? Then you'd choose a 24-degree cooling pad.

The cooling pads contain a solution of water and salt and are therefore not harmful to the environment. They are also non-flammable and can therefore be safely used anywhere.

PCM?

PCM stands for Phase Change Material. These materials release energy during their transition from solid to liquid form and vice versa. In this case, the pads provide cooling during their transition to liquid form. During the 2 or 4 hours that you have the pads in your vest, they will gradually become softer.

What makes a cooling vest so good?

Combat heat stress

Did you know that high temperatures can lead to heat stress? Heat stress can occur at temperatures around 35 degrees Celsius and humidity above 50%. You can lose 30-50% of productivity due to heat stress. It can also cause various other physical problems:

It is therefore important to ensure extra cooling at high temperatures. While an office is relatively easy to cool with air conditioning, this is not feasible in large halls or outdoors. A cooling vest is then a great solution.

The PCM02 vest has a breathable nylon mesh outer layer. This makes it possible to work in temperatures up to 70 degrees Celsius.

1550 to 2350 grams, but you barely feel it

The great thing about the PCM02 is that the weight of the pads is distributed across the upper body. When wearing 8 x 150-gram pads, the vest weighs 1550 grams. With 8 x 250-gram pads, this is 2350 grams. Add to that the fact that the vest fits snugly around the body, and you'll almost forget you're wearing it.
