The Varier Wing sits somewhere between two worlds. It’s not a classic office chair that you sink into, nor is it a fixed kneeling chair that keeps you in one spot. You sit actively, yet you can still move. A quick turn, a little roll, back again. It all feels quite natural. As if the chair simply works with you.

Knee chair with freedom of movement

The Varier Wing was designed by Peter Opsvik and is a unique model within the Varier range. You get the active sitting position of a kneeling chair, but with a base on wheels. This means you’re not stuck in one spot, but can move more easily with whatever you’re doing.

The seat tilts forwards, so you automatically sit a bit more upright. Your pelvis tilts slightly forwards, which helps keep your back in a more natural position. It doesn’t feel forced. More like your body is naturally adopting the correct posture.

Also suits a slightly higher workstation

The Wing is height-adjustable and works well with desks ranging from approximately 74 to 90 cm. That makes it just a bit more flexible than many other kneeling chairs. This is particularly handy if your workstation is slightly higher, or if you’re a bit taller yourself.

Explanation of use

You sit differently, but you get used to it quickly

You sit on the Wing with your knees on the cushions and your weight distributed across the seat and lower legs. It feels a bit different at first. Often, after a few days, you’ll notice that you automatically sit up straighter and slump less. Nice and simple.

Small movements throughout the day

Because the chair swivels and is on wheels, you naturally move a bit more. A quick turn towards your screen, a short roll towards your desk. They’re small movements, but they make your working day just that bit more dynamic.

Ergonomic benefits

The Varier Wing helps you sit more actively without having to constantly think about your posture. The open hip angle ensures you’re less likely to slump. At the same time, the base ensures you don’t get stuck in one position.

The Wing works best with desks around 74 to 90 cm high. It can work outside this range, but often feels slightly less natural. The chair is also designed for a fairly broad range of users, but it’s always wise to check whether the seat height suits you.

The Wing keeps things deliberately simple. You adjust the height and that’s basically it. No extra levers or complicated positions. Handy if you want to sit down quickly and just get on with your work.
