An ode to the Fellowes Power-Spot USB-C

Only open for visitors

A good letterbox keeps its flap shut until the post arrives. The Fellowes Power-Spot USB-C does the same with your socket: it only gives way when a plug goes in. Pull the plug out and everything is flat again. (You still have to collect your own post.)

Why the Fellowes Power-Spot USB-C?

Power and USB-C in a 60 mm hole

The Fellowes Power-Spot USB-C is a built-in socket with a Type F socket with side earthing and a USB-C port. You fit it in a 60 mm hole in your desk or table top, the size of a regular cable grommet. That puts power and charging right where you work.

Flat in the desktop until you plug in

Without a plug, the socket of the Fellowes Power-Spot USB-C sits flush with the desktop. When you insert a plug, you push the socket down with it. Because nothing sticks out when you are not using it, dirt and dust get into the socket less easily.

Fast charging via USB-C

The USB-C port of the Fellowes Power-Spot USB-C charges at up to 30 W with Power Delivery. You charge your phone or tablet quickly, without a separate adapter in the socket. That keeps the socket free for your laptop or monitor.

How to use

The connection cable

The Fellowes Power-Spot USB-C has a 1.5 metre linking cable with a 3-pole connector. You connect a cable with a plug to it, which you order at the top of this page in 1, 2, 3 or 5 metres. If you already have a suitable connection cable with a 3-pole connector, choose "None".

Fitting in a 60 mm hole

If your desktop already has a 60 mm hole, for example for a cable grommet, you insert the Fellowes Power-Spot USB-C from above and secure it under the desktop. You do not need any tools for that. If there is no hole yet, you first cut one with a 60 mm hole saw.

Ergonomic benefits

A built-in socket does not change your posture, but the Fellowes Power-Spot USB-C does save you bending down and searching under your desk for a free socket. You plug in your laptop charger or phone cable from your chair. On a shared hot desk or meeting table, that is simply more pleasant.

Good to know

Measure before you order

The Fellowes Power-Spot USB-C fits a 60 mm hole and extends about 100 mm below the desktop. Check that there is no frame, drawer or cable tray in the way at that spot. Also allow for the cable that runs under the desktop to the wall socket.

Pros and cons

• Flush with the desktop when no plug is in
• USB-C with Power Delivery up to 30 W
• Fits a standard 60 mm hole
• Available in white and black
• Less ideal if you want to connect more than one plug at a time
• Less ideal if you want to charge your laptop via USB-C
• Less ideal if you do not want to cut a hole in your desktop

In short: the Fellowes Power-Spot USB-C is a built-in socket with USB-C for desks and meeting tables. Important: 60 mm hole, you choose the connection cable yourself.
