Product description of Fellowes AC Qi Power-Spot wireless flush-mount charger 15W with USB-A and USB-C Ø60 mm white

An ode to the AC Qi Power-Spot

A filling station for small vehicles

You put your phone on it and plug your earbuds into it. The AC Qi Power-Spot is a filling station built into your desk, only without the queue and without the card machine. It is a station for small vehicles though: phone, earbuds and smartwatch. Trucks like your laptop had better drive on.

Why the AC Qi Power-Spot?

Wireless charging and two USB ports in one circle

The AC Qi Power-Spot by Fellowes is a wireless charger that you build into your desktop. The Qi charging surface sits in the middle, with a USB-C and a USB-A port on the edge. So you charge a phone wirelessly and simply connect a device without wireless charging with a cable.

Maximum 15W, and that is enough for small devices

The maximum output of the AC Qi Power-Spot is 15W. That suits smartphones, wireless earbuds and smartwatches. How fast your device actually charges is up to the device itself; the 15W is the maximum of the Power-Spot. For a laptop it is not enough.

How to use it

The AC Qi Power-Spot gets its power through a fixed 1.5 metre cable and the included adapter with a Europlug. You plug that adapter into a socket under or next to your desk. Then you place your phone with its back in the middle of the charging surface, right on the wave logo.

Charging with a cable

If your device does not support wireless charging, or you want to top up something else, use the USB-C or USB-A port on the edge of the AC Qi Power-Spot. Your own charging cable will do. The maximum output of 15W applies here too.

Ergonomic benefits

A charger in the desktop does not change your sitting posture, but it does make your desk calmer. With the AC Qi Power-Spot you no longer reach for a cable behind your screen or bend down to a power strip under the table. Your phone has one fixed spot. That saves searching and loose cables.

Also worth knowing

Measure before you drill

The AC Qi Power-Spot fits a Ø60 mm cut-out. Check that there is no drawer, frame or beam under that spot, because the housing and the cable hang below the desktop. The adapter needs to reach a socket; the cable is 1.5 metres.

Cases and holders

In practice, wireless charging works through a thin case, but not through metal or a magnetic plate. In doubt? Test it once without the case. Place your phone in the middle of the AC Qi Power-Spot; if it lies beside it, it charges more slowly or not at all.

Filex logo on the charging surface

The charging surface of the AC Qi Power-Spot carries the Filex logo. Fellowes sells this model under item number 100091326, as the successor of Filex item FLX681089. Useful to know if you reorder on the old number.

Pros and cons

  • Wireless charging and two USB ports in one built-in point
  • No more charging cable on your desk
  • Adapter and 1.5 metre cable included
  • Installation without an electrician
  • 5 year Fellowes warranty
  • Less ideal if you want to charge a laptop with it
  • Less ideal if your desk has no room for a Ø60 mm hole

In short: AC Qi Power-Spot is a built-in wireless charger with USB-A and USB-C for desks and tables. Important: maximum output 15W, Ø60 mm cut-out, and for wireless charging your device needs to support Qi.
