Why the Wacom Intuos CTL-4100 drawing tablet?

The Intuos S (CTL-4100) is the latest drawing tablet in the Wacom family. It replaces the entry-level model, the Intuos Draw. The drawing tablet features a new and sleeker design. Of course, not only the aesthetics have changed.

With a drawing tablet like the Wacom Intuos, you can easily control your computer's cursor with pen movements. Besides allowing you to work much more accurately and perform drawing tasks more easily, it also offers ergonomic benefits.

What does a drawing tablet mean for your posture?

By controlling the cursor with a pen, you automatically adopt a more natural hand posture. The Intuos S drawing tablet is also suitable for both left-handed and right-handed use. If you also place it directly in front of your body, between shoulder width, then the Wacom Intuos pen tablet becomes a particularly fine tool!

What's new?

The dimensions have changed little. The Wacom Intuos S has even become somewhat more compact at 200 x 160 x 8 mm. The main gain is in the placement of the buttons, as the active area has remained the same at 152 x 95 mm.

In terms of resolution, there is no change; 2540 LPI (lines per inch) ensures an accurate drawing surface. The pressure sensitivity has doubled to 4096 pressure levels for an even more realistic drawing experience.

This is due to the redesigned Wacom Pen 4K, which, of course, stands for pressure sensitivity. As you would expect from all Wacom products, this pen also works without batteries. The Wacom Intuos S comes with 3 extra standard nibs. These are no longer located in the bottom of the drawing tablet but in the pen, making them much easier to access. The end of the pen serves as a nib removal tool.

Software package

Like its predecessors, the Intuos S drawing tablet from Wacom comes with useful software. This time, you are not limited by the version you choose, but you get to make the choice yourself. With the CTL-4100, you can choose between Corel® Painter® Essentials™ 6 and Corel® Aftershot™ 3. You can obtain the software by registering yourself with Wacom and registering your drawing tablet.

The Wacom Intuos S (CTL-4100) drawing tablet is equipped with 4 ExpressKeys™. You can program these entirely to your liking with Wacom's driver software. Frequently used functions, such as cut and paste, can now be easily performed at the touch of a button. More complex functions can also be assigned to the extra buttons. The extra buttons also serve as a convenient pen tray.

Do you find 4 buttons a bit few? That's no problem at all. You can easily call up a Radial Menu where you can store many more functions and shortcuts. You can also customise this entirely to your liking using the driver.

The driver is not just for customising the extra buttons, by the way. Among other things, you can also adjust the sensitivity, the tablet's aspect ratio relative to the screen, and the pressure sensitivity.

Travel companion

The drawing tablet is particularly suitable for travelling between different workplaces. It weighs 230 grams and comes with a detachable 150 cm USB connection cable. The small Wacom label at the top serves as a holder for your pen and ensures you don't lose the pen while travelling.
