4 tips to get the most out of your power strip with a switch

  • Place the power strip in an accessible location

When you use a power strip with a switch, you'll want easy access to the switch. Keep this in mind if you want to hide the power strip from view. Are you mounting it under a desk? Do so in a way that allows easy access.

  • Only connect devices that can be switched off

Don't forget that when you switch off the power strip, all connected devices will turn off. So, skip the freezer and fridge if you're going to use the strip.

  • First, count how many devices you want to connect

Beforehand, consider where in your home you want to use a power strip with a switch and count your electronic devices. It would be a shame if you couldn't switch off all your devices with the switch.

  • Choose the right type of power strip

There are various power strips with switches. For example, there's a desk model, a model you can screw down, and a model you simply place somewhere.

A power strip with a switch tackles your biggest standby power consumers

There are quite a few devices in your home that you only use a few times a day or week, but which constantly draw power. An average household has a standby power consumption of around 450 kWh per year, which amounts to approximately €180, based on electricity costs in 2023. It can be worthwhile to disconnect these devices from the power supply between uses with the help of a power strip with a switch.
