When do you choose a heated jacket?

You choose a heated jacket when you spend a long time outdoors without moving much: on the sidelines of a match, on a terrace or during a slow winter walk. Standing still calls for more warmth than walking at a brisk pace.

A heated jacket is also handy when you do not want to leave the house in four layers. The jacket takes over part of those layers: insulation for ordinary days, heating for the coldest ones.

Heated jacket, heated vest or regular winter jacket?

Heated jacket

A heated jacket is your outer layer: insulation, hood, rain-resistant fabric and heating in one. The Glovii heated jackets heat the shoulders and chest and weigh 1000 g including the battery.

Heated vest or body warmer

A heated vest leaves your arms free and you wear it under or over your own clothes. If you want to keep wearing your own winter jacket or workwear, take a look at the heated vests and body warmers.

Regular winter jacket

If you are mostly on the move, a well-insulated winter jacket is often enough. A heated jacket adds value when you stand or sit still in the cold for a long time.

Which complaints can a heated jacket help with?

A heated jacket can help reduce the cold feeling in your shoulders and upper body when you stand still in the cold for a long time. The warmth sits where the Glovii heated jacket has its elements: the shoulders and chest.

A heated jacket is not a medical device. If you have a condition in which cold or heat plays a role, talk to your GP or therapist first.

If it is mainly your hands that get cold, heated gloves are a logical addition to the jacket.

What should you look for when choosing a heated jacket?

Size and fit

The men's heated jacket comes in L and XL, the women's heated jacket in M and L. That is a small size range. Lay a jacket that fits you well flat, measure it at the same points as in the size chart on the product page and compare the measurements before you order.

Battery and runtime

The battery of the heated jacket has 5200 mAh (38.48 Wh) and is 10 mm thin, with a built-in charge indicator. On the lowest level (34 °C) it lasts up to 8 hours, on the middle level (39 °C) 5 hours and on the highest level (44 °C) 3 hours. The battery and mains charger come with the jacket.

Rain and washing

The outer fabric of the heated jacket is rain-resistant nylon; Glovii calls the jacket rain-resistant, not waterproof. Take the battery out and the jacket can go in the washing machine at 40 degrees on a delicate programme. Then let it dry flat.

Pockets

The men's heated jacket has six pockets: three outer pockets, one of which is for the battery, and three inner pockets. The women's heated jacket has two outer pockets, one of which is for the battery.

Tips for using a heated jacket

  • Only switch the heating on when the insulation alone is not enough: the battery lasts longer that way.
  • Choose the level to suit what you are doing: standing on the sidelines calls for a higher level than walking.
  • Take the battery out of the jacket before washing, and let the jacket dry flat without a tumble dryer.
  • Take the battery out when you store the jacket, and fully charge it at least every 6 months.
  • Store the jacket out of season in the storage bag that comes with it.
