1

Ensure a good night's sleep

Keeping the bedroom cool is essential. Open the windows at night. This allows warm air to escape and be replaced by fresh air. During the day, it's better to keep windows and curtains closed to keep the heat out.

Do you have air conditioning? Turn it on before sleeping to cool the bedroom. At night, it's best to keep it off as much as possible because fresh air also promotes a good night's sleep.

2

Drink enough water

As soon as the body gets warm, it starts sweating to cool down. Apart from unpleasant odours, there's nothing wrong with that, but it does mean you lose a lot of fluid without noticing. Especially at night, you don't always realise this.

Therefore, drink a large glass of water before you go to sleep and when you wake up. Also, make sure you drink enough water throughout the day.

3

Eat more fruit and vegetables

Eating protein-rich meals increases your metabolism. This has a warming effect. Easily digestible foods, such as fruit and vegetables, require less effort to digest, which also makes your body less warm. In addition, water-rich products - such as watermelon, cucumber, and tomato - have a cooling effect.

4

Keep a cool head

Above all, don't worry about the heat; it is what it is. Getting worked up about something uncontrollable like the outdoor temperature will only make you feel hotter.

Additionally, lower the demands you place on yourself at work somewhat. Due to the heat, you are most likely less productive than you are used to. That's okay.

5

Avoid the hottest times of the day

Go to work earlier, take a long break during the hottest part of the day, and work longer in the evening. This way, you can still get your hours in and avoid the hottest times of the day. In warm countries where they are used to extreme temperatures, such as Spain, this tradition has been upheld for about 100 years through the well-known siesta.

6

Use the right equipment

In addition to everyday changes, there are also a number of products that can assist you in your fight against the sun and heat. Not just for yourself, but also for your devices.

  1. An airy office chair
  2. A ventilating laptop stand
  3. Use a central mouse
  4. Wear a cooling vest!
