Product description of Heatek Heated foot mat Misty Grey

Which size Heatek heated foot mat Misty Grey suits me?

The Heatek heated foot mat Misty Grey comes in sizes 40 x 50 cm and 40 x 90 cm. Power rises with size, and so does consumption. The last column assumes eight hours switched on at an electricity price of 30 cents per kWh, so you can compare the sizes fairly.

SizePowerElectricity per 8 hours
40 x 50 cm18 Wabout € 0.04
40 x 90 cm35 Wabout € 0.08

The mat only uses electricity while it is switched on. If you use it half days, halve the amounts.

Rule of thumb: under a desk for one person, 40 x 50 cm is enough. If you want room to move your feet, or you share the mat with someone at the table, pick a larger size.

An ode to the Heatek heated foot mat Misty Grey

Lukewarm is a compliment here

For most things, lukewarm is not a recommendation. Coffee, showers, applause. This mat is the exception.

Just warm enough that your feet notice, and just not so hot that you switch it off again every hour. Lukewarm, then. And that is exactly the point.

Why the Heatek heated foot mat Misty Grey?

Warm without getting hot

The Heatek heated foot mat Misty Grey heats to about 33 degrees. That is just below your body temperature, and Heatek chose that on purpose. The mat takes the cold out of the floor and keeps your feet at a pleasant temperature all day.

It does not feel hot. You only notice the benefit after a few hours: you do not have to keep switching the mat off because it gets too warm.

If you want a mat that gets noticeably warmer, the Excellent range by De WarmeMat is the better fit: it reaches 35 to 40 degrees. The Heatek is built for steady warmth all day, at low consumption.

Up to temperature within minutes

Plug it in, and within a few minutes you feel the warmth coming through the carpet. Inside the mat sits an infrared element of nanocarbon with copper strips, sealed between two layers of polyester film. Above it sits the carpet, chosen because it lets heat through well and is hard-wearing enough for daily use with shoes on.

Handmade in the Netherlands

Heatek makes the Heatek heated foot mat Misty Grey by hand in the Netherlands. The edge is bound all round, and the underside is insulating latex with an anti-slip finish. That latex layer insulates downwards, so most of the heat goes up rather than into the floor. The anti-slip finish keeps the mat in place.

What makes the Heatek heated foot mat Misty Grey so good?

A heated foot mat heats one spot only: the place where you sit. Many people feel the cold mostly in their feet, and once those are warm the workplace often feels a lot better. With the smallest model, eight hours of heating costs about five cents in electricity, using the assumption from the table above.

Safety has been tested by KEMA and, in Germany, by TÜV. The mat carries the CE marking and complies with the European standard EN 60335-1 for household electrical appliances. The connection between cable and mat is waterproof and has a sturdy strain relief.

Get the most out of your Heatek heated foot mat Misty Grey

On socks or bare feet

The warmth comes through best on socks or bare feet. With shoes on, less warmth comes through. The mat still keeps the cold of the floor away from your feet, but you feel the warmth itself less. Put the mat on a flat, hard floor and not under a thick rug.

The cable

The power cable is 200 cm long. That is enough to reach from a socket next to the desk to your feet. Along the desk leg it stays safely out of the way of your chair.
