Why the Handshoemouse Shift?

The well-known success in a rather new and improved guise

After more than 10 years of successfully combating RSI with the Handshoemouse original, it was time for the necessary improvements. Like its predecessor, the Handshoemouse Shift relies on years of research and development at Erasmus University, but can also add 10+ years of user experience to its CV. That's quite an impressive start.

Fighting against RSI and CTS

The Handshoemouse was developed with RSI (repetitive strain injury) and CTS (Carpal Tunnel Syndrome) as its main priorities. The mouse offers full hand support and, with a slight 25-degree tilt, also places the arm in a comfortable, relaxed position. The curved shapes of the Handshoemouse Shift support the fingers in a pleasant way and position the thumb close to the fingers for optimal relaxation. Your index or middle finger nicely follows the curve of the mouse while scrolling.

Usable for left and right-handed users

Hippus's great discovery with the Handshoemouse Shift is the way they made the mouse suitable for both left-handed and right-handed use. The body of the mouse is symmetrically designed and rests on a tilting mechanism. You tilt the mouse with the left side up for right-handed use and the right side up for left-handed use. A slider on the underside ensures that the buttons behave logically.

Simply designed functionality

This model also eschews all sorts of extra buttons and functionalities. The Shift has a left mouse button, a right mouse button, and a scroll wheel with an auto-scroll function in between. On the underside, some additional, but necessary, buttons have been added. These include the left/right function, the Bluetooth pairing button, and the on/off switch.

Easy to connect, strong battery

The Shift can be used both wired and via Bluetooth. The included 2-metre cable connects to use it wired and/or to charge the battery. By the way, with about 3 hours of charging, it lasts 4-6 weeks. Thanks to the LED indicator between the index finger and thumb, you can see when the battery is almost empty (flashing red) and when it is fully charged (green).

What makes a symmetrical ergonomic mouse so good?

The great thing about the symmetry of this mouse is that you can now distribute the strain of many hours of mousing between both hands. The full support for the hand ensures that it remains relaxed.

Ideal arm position with the Shift

The wireless Shift is already very effective at eliminating small repetitive movements from the wrist. So you can easily rest your elbow on the armrest of your office chair or the desk for some extra support. You will feel that you are still encouraged to mouse from the forearm.

Choose your size

Above, you have probably already seen how to choose your ideal Shift size. The 2 different sizes make it possible for almost everyone to start using a Handshoemouse. Do you have a Shift in your hands via a colleague or friend and want to know what size it is? On the underside of the mouse, at the back, it says Medium or Large. Handy! Previously there was also a small version, but this is currently no longer available.

What has been improved in the Shift compared to the Original?

The new Shift has several things better sorted than its older brother, the Original. Paul Helder, the founder of the Handshoemouse, invested a lot of time in the development of the new model, focusing on both fine details (product finish) and larger aspects (better hand support). The most important improvements of the Shift are:
