Shed those pounds

10 tips to lose weight at work

You don't have to make drastic decisions to burn off a few pounds. All you need are some small changes to your daily routine. We have selected 10 tips for you that can help you achieve results at work.

1

Drink green tea (no, without sugar)

Green tea is known for its beneficial properties. One of them is speeding up your metabolism.

So your body will work harder, causing you to burn fat faster.

2

Alternate between standing and sitting at work

Standing, your heart beats 10 more times per minute, meaning you burn 3.3 kilocalories instead of 2.6 when sitting.

Sitting for more than 2 hours is also very bad for you.

3

Go for a walk during your break

With 30 minutes of walking, you already burn about 90 kilocalories.

The lunch break is ideal for this activity. It's easiest to start if you can find a few colleagues who want to achieve the same as you.

4

Eat small portions and don't crave lunch

Try to get ahead of that usual 'hunger' feeling and eat small portions throughout the day.

You give your brain time to process your meals, which prevents you from overeating.

5

Walk to a colleague, don't send an email

Communicating from your armchair is easier than ever. Resist it!

Walk over to your colleague and tell them what you would otherwise use an email for. That's an easy way to burn calories.

6

Take the stairs (even if it's just down first)

Of course, preferably up as well, but you have to start somewhere, right? Taking the stairs is an easy way to quickly burn fat.

With just one minute of walking stairs, you already burn 9 kilocalories. With the lift? 1 to 2.

7

Cycle to work

Half an hour of cycling is good for 300 kilocalories. So the furnace is burning strongly with such a small ride.

8

Drink plenty of water

When dehydrated, you tend to feel hungry sooner, causing you to reach for food more quickly.

Drink a glass of water before each meal and you'll find that you'll feel full sooner anyway.

9

Snack less, snack healthy, be prepared!

Is there a snack monster inside you? Then leave the house well-prepared and take some healthy snacks to work.

An apple, blueberries, nuts, Greek yoghurt, a banana, strawberries, snack tomatoes – the possibilities are endless.

10

Discuss while walking

Not everything has to be discussed at the meeting table. Ask your colleague to join you for a short walk.

Not only do you burn more calories, but your brain is also sharper when in motion.
