“...because sitting well works!”
What does Vitaliteit@Work do?
Approximately half of Dutch people with an office job experience pain or complaints resulting from a non-ergonomic work environment. A large part of this can be prevented with the right ergonomic advice.
How does Arjan work? It's actually very simple. Namely, by investigating where the complaints originate. By identifying the cause, a targeted solution can be sought. To discover the cause of a complaint, awareness is often needed. Many complaints arise from ignorance. People often don't realise that, for example, shoulder complaints are due to a wide keyboard, or wrist complaints to the use of a traditional mouse. Only when the cause of the complaint has been removed can preventive action be taken to prevent recurrence of the complaint(s). Arjan compares complaint prevention to traffic; there you put on a seatbelt or wear a helmet to limit damage in accidents. Yet there is a better solution; namely, preventing an accident. And that is done by making it mandatory to obtain a driving licence.
Achieving the right workplace should actually be approached in the same way. By proactively training employees on ergonomic working postures, the number of complaints will significantly decrease. This applies not only to ergonomic sitting, but also to walking and standing in the workplace. Those who maintain a healthy lifestyle also maintain a healthy working posture. Outside of professionals, no one is trained on this. This can lead to incorrect sitting posture, long-term absenteeism due to illness, and eventually even occupational disability. Fortunately, Vitaliteit@Work is there for advice.
A Jack of All Trades
In addition to ergonomic advice, Vitaliteit@Work offers massages. A firm massage can contribute to an ergonomic working posture by loosening muscles and reducing tension. When someone sits or stands in the same posture for a long time at work, this can lead to stiff muscles and tension in the body. In the long run, this can lead to complaints such as back pain, neck pain, and headaches.
A massage can reduce this tension by stimulating blood circulation and loosening the muscles. The massage improves blood flow to the muscles, allowing waste products to be removed and nutrients to be better absorbed. This creates more space in the muscles, making them more supple and relaxed.
When the muscles are relaxed, it is easier to adopt and maintain an ergonomic posture. This is because the muscles are no longer tense and therefore tire less quickly. Furthermore, the joints can move better, and it is easier to adopt a good posture, for example, by maintaining a straight back and relaxed shoulders.
They went before you
Of the many clients Arjan has had the pleasure of helping, we have asked a few for their opinion on Vitaliteit@Work's services. We would say; read and judge for yourself.
“When I contacted Arjan for an appointment, he came by that same week. Besides a good office chair, he also advised me on a new sit-stand desk, and by reusing the existing tabletop, I wasn't unnecessarily burdened with costs. Shortly after his visit, Arjan delivered and installed the items. This too was done neatly and professionally. I was quickly back to work, now in an even more ergonomic way. However, I wasn't the only one happy with the new office chair. If I had an appointment out of the office, the office chair was rolled from my office to my husband's. You can imagine it wasn't long before Arjan was back on our doorstep. After years of daily headaches, countless examinations and therapies, and visits to specialists, my husband's headaches were virtually gone a few weeks after the new office chair and workstation setup were put into use. What an invaluable gift! Thank you, Arjan, for the excellent service, your top products, and the knowledge you share.”
Chantal from HR at Albero is also very satisfied with the service Vitaliteit@Work offered her; “For a few years now, Arjan has been coming to us to examine workstations and adjust them where necessary. He gives good and clear advice. In this, he is also very realistic and honest. If a chair or desk is still good in itself but not properly adjusted, he ensures the correct modifications. He doesn't try to sell you a new desk or chair just because the old one might not be good anymore. Employees can contact him if they experience complaints during work, and he helps them quickly and seriously. In this, he carefully considers the tasks someone performs and the conditions they work under. He always chooses the most practical solution possible. Furthermore, he always goes that extra mile. If he comes for one person's workstation but sees that another's chair isn't quite right, he'll address that straight away. All in all, Arjan is knowledgeable, flexible, reliable, and always willing to think along. A great partner to work with!”
