How to choose the ideal ergonomic mouse
Choosing an ergonomic mouse: we're making it a bit easier for you
How a functional purchase can still be so personal
the convenience and inconvenience of the mouse
We usually can't do without it, but sometimes we can't do with it either
The ergonomic mouse, in the field of ergonomics, is one of the most frequently purchased items. Not surprising, as it is one of the most important – perhaps the most important – computer accessories. For years, the mouse has made it incredibly easy to operate your computer, navigate documents and websites, and perform tasks.
Because we work with it so much, it is also one of the biggest culprits when it comes to workplace complaints. Think of RSI, which is an abbreviation for Repetitive Strain Injury. In short, it is a collective term for complaints that arise from repetitive or static movements. In some cases, these complaints even make it impossible for you to work. An example of this is mouse arm.
Ergonomic aid
What can such an ergonomic mouse do for me?
Although it doesn't guarantee the disappearance or prevention of complaints, the ergonomic mouse is a good aid. It has already meant a lot to many people and is purchased for various reasons. The main reason is complaint-related. Which is a shame, really, because of course you'd rather not have any complaints at all. An ergonomic mouse is also highly recommended for people who are 'simply' looking for more comfort in their workplace. Preventatively, an ergonomic mouse is much less often purchased. This is understandable, as there is so much choice and "why should I go to all that trouble if I don't have any complaints anyway". Let me tell you this; you certainly don't have to let the price deter you, because you can already get an ergonomic mouse for less than 40 euros.
So, this is why we want to make it a bit easier for you in your search for the best ergonomic mouse for you. I explicitly say "for you" indeed, because the mouse I currently enjoy working with might feel much less comfortable in your hands.
"We have the best mouse"
So says almost every manufacturer of ergonomicmice
Every manufacturer naturally claims that their mouse or mice are the best among the current range of ergonomic mice. Because it provides ultimate comfort, because it eliminates complaints. These claims are certainly not hot air, as a lot of research goes into such a mouse. However, that doesn't mean you'll enjoy working with it. While you're faffing about with your mouse, all those fantastic features disappear like snow in the sun. If there were one perfect ergonomic mouse that would work best for every individual, then we would offer that and nothing else.
What I actually want to say is, no matter how much a mouse fulfils a functional role, in the end, it remains a purchase you make with feeling. So keep that in mind when you're scrolling through our assortment, for example.
The 4 most important tips
we're already making your choice a bit easier
We use 4 steps when choosing an ergonomic mouse. These steps give you more certainty about your choice and significantly reduce the chance of purchasing a mouse that doesn't quite suit you.
- Choose your variant - The first step is one of the easiest and probably one you've already thought about. Which variant of mouse do you want? Wired, wireless, left-handed or will you go for a trackpad after all? This choice will filter out a lot of mice.
- Size matters - When choosing an ergonomic mouse, it is very important to choose the right size. So measure your hand and use the filters to indicate your hand size. The website will present you with the mice that fit your hand.
- Compare the mice - The selection is probably still quite large. As I mentioned earlier, the right purchase remains a matter of feeling. Compare some mice and choose the one you feel most comfortable with.
- Any questions? - During working hours, you can ask all your questions in our handy chat. We can give you final advice and clear up any doubts. This will make you much more confident about your purchase. Outside working hours, we are of course always available via email.
Testing is key
You only know for sure once you've tried it.
All tips and advice can help you on the right path, but you only have certainty when you actually hold the mouse in your hand. So make sure that when you purchase an ergonomic mouse, you are allowed to test it and can return it for free if you don't like it (ADVERT ALERT: we do).
